The Filth and The Fury PunkFest

..and then, just as you thought it was safe to go back out to live bands again, along comes another PunkFest to rattle your bones and wind you up to a hardcore feeding frenzy!

Back due to extremely popular demand, “The Filth and the Fury PunkFest” follows on from the “Niel Roberts Memorial PunkFests” of the last few years.

“Fat Seedy Old Punk Promotions” proudly presents the third (semi) annual PunkFest with a stunning line up of awesome punk bands from around New Zealand. This will be a wild night of punk rock mayhem with a wicked blend of both old school '77 style punk and new school hardcore with everything in between.

Wellington has spawned “Gobsmakt”, a three piece punk rock band formed in 1998 from suburban wellington. Currently signed to step one records in the UK, their only album release 'you wot' achieved positive feedback from the international and local punk community. Incorporating traditional punk attitude and playing style with elements of ska, they shoot from the hip and hold nothing back.... the latest lineup consists of three members - Brent Jenkins on drums, frosty (Craig Frost) on vocals and bass and humps (Brendon Humphries) on guitar. This is their first major gig played since the band reformed earlier this year.

Expect Dunedin band “The Pukes” to vomit forth with their original brand of psychotic, wall of noise hardcore upon unsuspecting punters. This sometimes 3 piece, sometimes 4 piece band have a mezmerising stage show led by the captivating front woman, “Kez Bizzare”, whose frenzied vocals are a perfect compliment to the sledgehammering guitars.

Another must see band from Dunedin are “The DDTs” whose Ramones stance and buzz-saw guitars will really crank up your night. It may also be the last chance to see them as rumour has is they will go there separate ways after Xmas.

“Illreceived” are a very popular local band who are firm saturates on the live scene around Christchurch. Their brand of melodic catchy hardcore definatly appeals to the new school devotees, so be sure to be upfront to catch their energetic live show.

“Lunger”are another popular live act from Christchurch with a frantic set of old school covers Expect to bounce around to old favourates from The Clash, Damned, Devo, and some surprise old classics that will get your dancing boots humming!

“Not With You” are 3piece punk band from Chch. Ryan on drums, Ant on guitar, Rob bass and vocals. Opened for Elemno p and kitsch lately, and are heading to Oz in Jan for some gigs in Melbourne. “Not With You” like to play and party hard.

The Third Annual “Filth and the Fury PunkFest” is being held on Saturday November the 12^th at the Esplanade Tavern in New Brighton. Doors open at 8:30pm, be early to catch the 6 band line-up! R.O.A.R. No Dorks will be tolerated, so please leave bad attitudes at home and be prepared to enjoy a wild night of pure punk rock nirvana!
